A surprise selection into the Under 23 Europeans competition took me to Tel Aviv in Israel last weekend. I fought four rounds in all losing out in only one due to penalty points and went on to win the Bronze medal. This is a good result for me and one that I am really pleased about coming back from such a long time out of action. Can only go forwards from here and keep acheiving good results, Back on home ground Sunday 11th December for Senior British Chamionships in Sheffield. Be sure to check out my blog for news and results.

Mixed feelings about medal

I competed at the Glasgow European Open at the Emirates arena last week and came away with the Bronze medal in my category which is a good result, though one which I have mixed feelings about.
I lost out in my first fight to Camila Nogueira from Brazil whom I have fought before in the UK School Games when I was younger, and then went straight through to semi-finals to face another Brazilian girl for the bronze and came out winning following her being disqualified after 4 penalties.
It was not the colour that I wanted but is still another stepping stone coming back into the circuit after a long term injury.
My next competition will be the British Championships in Sheffield in December.
Onwards and Upwards.

Lost out in my first fight to the tough French girl whom I shared a Bronze medal with
in Madrid following an early penalty which I was unable to get back. Far from the result or
performance I wanted but can only go forward from here with the experience gained.
Onwards and upwards from here on in following a really good camp after the tournament
where I got to work on strength, endurance and technique with some of
Europe's greatest +78kg female judoka.

Looking forward to a tough tournament this weekend at the Hungary Grand Prix,
Budapest which is the final Grand Prix in Europe before the Rio 2016 Olympic
games. Having won a Bronze medal at the European open earlier this month
after 9 months of not competing, I am entering this tournament with a
peak of confidence. Since my last competition training has been
going well while I've been fully focused on preparing
for this one and I know I will need to give my all and fight hard and smart
as I went out early in this same tournament last year due to the higher level of
experience of my opponent. This time I have been out of competing for a while but
have been able to squeeze in a warm up competition prior which will hopefully give
me what I need to step up and be successful in one of the toughest tournaments in
judo.
I have been supported and funded to compete at this tournament by
Their support has continued through to my Senior judoka status and is thoroughly
motivating to me after such a tough time last year.
A great start with Bronze!

A Bronze medal for me at the Madrid European Open. I had 3 tough and tiring contests
losing out in the semi-final to the Silver medal winner. Not a great performance and there
is plenty of room for improvement going ahead. Nonetheless I am happy to have medalled at
my first competition back, especially at this level. Its now back to training and working
hard to get ready for my next tournament in Hungary.
